During the plenary sessions of the Senate, each senator speaks French or Dutch. All interventions are simultaneously translated by interpreters into the other language and can be listened to via the headphones at any seat.

It is not foreseen to provide translations from or into German, even though it is also an official language of Belgium. The senator from the German-speaking Community, guaranteed by the Constitution, can choose to intervene in Dutch or French.
